Processing

• In 2013 Biomass for Africa acquired a mobile chipper to process damaged timber for sawmills in Northern Kwazulu Natal
• In 2015 a second mobile chipper was added to the fleet
• The chippers each has a capacity to process 30 tons of wood chips per hour.
• The product sizing can be controlled by a built in screen and the wood chips are processed straight into a walking floor truck, degradation (fines) are limited to a minimum.

Export

• In 2016 BMA entered into a contract to export wood chips to a producer of electricity in Europe. The first shipment was completed in November 2016 and that was a first for South Africa.

Wood Chip Dryers

• We developed a system to dry the wood chips efficiently. This process is cost effective as it enhances the calorific value of the wood chips by driving off the moisture of the wood chips.

Logistics

• In cooperation with our strong partners we cover transportation by road transport.

• Our customers receive support and advice from the very beginning, in particular to ensure the demanded biomass quality.
